GitHub¶
This section provides guidelines and best practices for using GitHub effectively during the hackathon. Whether you're new to GitHub or looking to improve your workflow, these tips will help you manage your projects and collaborate with your team more efficiently.
How do I create a GitHub repository for my project?¶
Note
Dedicated Hackathon repositories will be designated to your team by the Hackathon organizers. Please reach out to your Point of Contact for assistance.
Tip
To keep things organized, please follow this naming convention for your repositories: repo-hack25-team<number>. For example, if your team name is "12", the name of the repository should be repo-hack25-team12.
How do I add users to my repository to collaborate during the hackathon?¶
- Navigate to your repository on GitHub.
- Click on the "Settings" tab.
- In the left sidebar, under "Access", click on "Collaborators and teams".
- Under Access, look for "Add people" button on the right side of the page.
- Search for your team members by their GitHub username and add them with only "Write" access.
